The face of the Axis of Antisemitism
Unions, Muslim organizations, and far-left groups come together to save Hamas.
I recently received a mass email warning New York City Jews to stay away from an anti-Israel demonstration in Bryant Park due to the quite justified fear of antisemitic violence.
The email included a rather crude advertisement for the demonstration:
We can put aside the obvious bad faith of the ad’s rhetoric and its absurd late 19th-century sloganeering (“workers demand,” etc.). Let it simply be said that anyone who advocates a ceasefire rather than demanding that Hamas immediately and unconditionally surrender has no interest in saving lives, but rather in saving Hamas.
What is more interesting, however, is the specific groups involved:
When you behold this motley crew, you are literally staring into the face of the Axis of Antisemitism: Labor, teachers, and artists unions; Muslim organizations; socialist and other far-left groups; and the fringe Jewish organizations given suspiciously convenient prominence.
This is literally a montage of what American Jews are up against. Because make no mistake: These groups aren’t just seeking the genocide of Israeli Jews, they’re also seeking to destroy the American Jewish community. And these are the groups that are teaching your children, running your neighbor’s mosque, and working through the likes of AOC to seize control of the Democratic party and ultimately the White House.
It’s easy to say that these are fringe activists, but the Nazi party had 6,000 members when Hitler joined, and there are certainly more than 6,000 of these thugs. Thus far, thankfully, they have yet to acquire a single charismatic leader and, given their fractious nature, perhaps never will. But antisemitism is a powerful unifying force, and if an AOC of real talent ever rises to power, American Jews are in serious trouble.
The imperative of the moment, then, is not just to counter the Axis, but to smash it. Thankfully, haters are very bad at keeping their mouths shut, so at least we know their names. That is a step in the right direction.
My latest JNS column was published today. In it, I tackle the issue of the world’s perpetual demand that Israel make “concessions” for peace, which I feel indicates precisely what kind of “peace” the world is after.
There is something even deeper and more unspeakable at work, however. One senses that like Hamas, which has deformed and degraded one of the world’s great religions into a death cult, those who demand such a peace worship a kind of dark and hideous god that must be propitiated, and to which they must periodically feed the Jews and, ultimately, themselves—as the wars of the last century have shown. This, the advocates of Jones’s peace appear to believe, will finally set the world right.
A recent New York Times article (I don’t link to systemically racist publications) was little more than an orgy of gloating over Israel’s failure to capture or kill Hamas’ Gaza leadership thus far.
Now, given that it took quite a while for the Americans to nab Saddam Hussein and 10 years to kill Osama bin Laden, one would think patience was in order. The Times, however, having been caught disseminating a Hamas blood libel, along with other malfeasances, is desperately searching for a new narrative to weaponize. Attempting to demoralize Israel and its supporters with tales of military failure is as good as any, I suppose. We should remember that we’re dealing with people who are highly credentialed but not particularly bright.
What is ironic, however, is that it has been reported that at least one Hamas leader—the bucktoothed cannibal Yahya Sinwar—escaped capture by hiding in a humanitarian aid convoy.
I will put aside what this says about the aid organizations involved, who must have known that they were aiding and abetting a terrorist, and simply note that the Times’ advocacy of aid for Gaza was relentless to the point of dementia. The pressure it placed on Israel and the Biden administration over the issue was immense, and lest we forget, the Times is not a newspaper but a political actor. Despite being wholly unelected and unrepresentative of the American people, it has real influence over policy.
Thus, if we accept, for the sake of argument, that the inability to find Hamas’ Gaza leadership is a military failure, the Times is essentially lamenting a failure that it helped engineer. One could also argue that the Times indirectly collaborated with a terrorist war criminal, but I will digress on that point.
The Times, like most things progressive, has no sense of humor whatsoever and is thus impervious to irony. However, if you want to make the Times staff aware of it, you can contact them via this page or submit a letter to the editor.
I don’t like to make claims of prescience. I’ve only been prescient once in my life, when I saw Reservoir Dogs back in 1992 and realized Quentin Tarantino would be the greatest filmmaker of his generation (though I didn’t imagine he’d end up marrying Daniela Pick and moving to Tel Aviv).
Nonetheless, I have been writing about an impending explosion of antisemitism for quite some time and felt certain it would eventually come to the United States. A collection of three essays I wrote on the issue is available at Amazon if you’re interested.
In typically disgusting fashion, a gang of antisemitic thugs have vandalized the Lincoln Memorial. This followed on the heels of an attack by another gang of antisemitic thugs on a holiday party attended by members of the Democratic party.
This simply underscores something I’ve mentioned before, which is that the Axis of Antisemitism isn’t just antisemitic or anti-Israel, it’s also bitterly anti-American. Like the Iranian theo-fiends, it sees Israel as the “little Satan” that is a mere microcosm of the real Beelzebub, which is the United States. It believes that the US is an irredeemably racist settler-colonialist entity built on genocide and slavery, and dedicated to global imperialism. They want to destroy it as badly as they want to destroy Israel.
Fortunately or unfortunately, a free society has to allow for expressions of self-hatred and even outright subversion, but that does not mean those who engage in them are permitted to do so without being called out and criticized.
In fact, the haters’ freedom to express their hate is something of an advantage for the rest of us, because the majority of Americans do not feel this way about their country and despise those who do. We must free this silent majority from the culture of intimidation that keeps them silent and give them a voice.
I’ve written that an end to the Axis’ impunity is the key to smashing it. A good example of what this looks like is the recent sentencing of a New York City swine-thug named Mohammed Othman to 5 1/2 years in prison for a brutal 2021 assault on a Jewish man.
The victim says he’s satisfied with the sentence, and while 10 years would have sent a stronger message, 5 1/2 is still a good chunk of a man’s life. That’s what has to happen to put the bullies in their place: Chunks of their lives must be taken away. They have to be made to feel it. Once they do, like all cowards, they’ll stop.
Excellent essay.
