The Sanders syndrome

The senator conspicuously lacks Ahavat Yisrael, a love of the people Israel.

Perhaps no American Jew has done more damage to his own community and his own people in recent years than Senator Bernie Sanders. This self-described socialist from Vermont has, for over a decade, done everything in his power to legitimize today’s neo-antisemitism and to advance its political ambitions.

Sanders has done this even as this neo-antisemitic movement has slandered, intimidated, harassed, assaulted, and murdered Jews. He has done this even as the neo-antisemites have engaged in systemic criminality on the streets and campuses, vandalized and attacked Jewish institutions and businesses, and engaged in constant racist and genocidal incitement.

Recently, Sanders took this collaborationism to a new level, endorsing a man who may well prove to be New York City’s first openly antisemitic mayor.
