Mamdani will very likely be the next mayor of NYC.

I am basing my prediction on conversations with very naive and stupid graduates from elite universities who work in very capitalist enterprises. They have become drunk on the Kool-Aid the Squad has brewed. A bit of “free Palestine” mixed with a shot of “BDS” and a twist of “give it to the man”.

Somehow they think that their employers will just sit tight and get repeatedly punched in the face. Trust me, they won’t.

Capital moves fast, people move slower but they move.

I think the following quotes apply to Mamdani and AOC.

The Devil Speech by James L. Brooks

“What do you think the devil’s going to look like if he’s around? … Nobody is going to be taken in by a guy with a long, red, pointy tail!”
Aaron (Albert Brooks) in Broadcast News

“The prince of darkness is a gentleman.”
King Lear

While I share your deep concerns as described here I think this is a little overwrought. The things you describe are not likely to happen. Fortunately.

Worst case scenarios, as with many things, are often inherently difficult to assign likelihood. Who would play Russian Roulette with a fictitious gun of 60 chambers? 59 out of 60 are very good odds for not losing. The trick is finding the balance between worrying too much and too little, not that I am capable of this. Anticipate, evaluate, develop countermeasures, monitor, adapt and partition the inevitably limited resources accordingly. Modifying a famous Thomas Jefferson quote, "The price of "Never Again' is perpetual vigilance." At least Israel has Mossad.

There is no benefit to playing Russian Roulette and no downside to not playing it. When calculating these things one also has to contend with the harm of doing nothing against the benefit of acting. Much more complex.

I don't see any major disagreement. My Russian Roulette analogy was intended solely to show that even low probability, in and of itself, is not necessarily enough. Nothing more than a broad generality was my intention. It was in no way intended as a play or don't play proposition (no strategic or tactical suggestions were implied). I regret any lack of clarity on my part.

I did not intend to infer, to you or any reader, that some things are not more complex. You are absolutely correct that "doing nothing" is "doing something." On a case by case basis, that potentially may be the best available option.

I wordsmith as best I can. I sincerely try to minimize any potential misunderstanding(s).

It’s more likely that American jews will become more and more estranged from their roots and adopt progressivism as their only religion

The ones who will already have. The majority of American Jewish Democrats continue to utilize denial to avoid facing what the party has turned into.

To the members of the American Jewish community who can’t quite seem to wrap their heads around the idea that there is a war against the Jewish people, it’s time think outside the sandbox. Jews are being killed by an enemy that wants to annihilate the Jewish State and murder its inhabitants. Israelis are bravely resisting, fighting and tragically dying and being wounded every day in this war.

Jews and their neighbors in NYC are voting for a man who has aligned himself in this war against the Jewish people and he does it with a smile.

Enjoy the Bob Dylan Classic, “Ballad of a Thin Man” and try and figure out what is going on. Try and understand that anti-Zionism is antisemitism.
