More likely, you'll see the Democrats fragment further and silo themselves off into different parties. I see most of the RGA moving Green.

America will never back AOC. Most Democrats don't even like her. She would never win swing states like Nevada and Wisconsin, or any of the red states.

But I said the same thing about Trump so what do I know?

Let’s hope you’re right.

Trump didn't win the swing states, the Democrats lost them. Vance can win those states, though. And AOC cannot defeat him in a debate if she's foolish enough to agree to debate him.

"Kamala Harris is for they/them; President Trump is for you"

That brilliant campaign ad shows how out of touch the far Left, including the RGA, is with the American public.

There are plenty of AOC statements on topics like "birthing persons" and others to build on.

Harvard-Harris monthly polls show strong US public support for Israel even though it doesn't have the loudness of campus protests. Progressive fringe is nothing compared to Evangelical Christians, a bedrock of Israel support: cufi.org

We're already seeing the fragmentation of the Democratic party, with pro-Israel voices like Congressman Ritchie Torres and Senator John Fetterman pushing for a more mainstream direction. We can already see that in recent House and Senate votes in the new Congress.

This is the United States: if you're still concerned about antisemitic violence, learn to shoot https://jewscanshoot.org/

Torres could kick AOC's butt in a primary. He has all of her charisma and none of her baggage.

I hope so!

The first thing that sprang to mind when Kamala Harris got the nomination was that she wouldn't get support from working class people and union households. And she didn't: the Teamsters and Firefighters did not endorse her although they endorsed Biden four years ago.

Ritchie Torres is a tremendous guy but seems to be angling for the NY governor's office.

There are a lot of variables at play and by 2028 literally anything can be happening. There could be a peace treaty in Israel - or at least return to the Abraham Accords and Israel and Saudi Arabia could very likely have normalized relations. God knows what will happen in Syria, but for the time being it could be a time of relative quiet (or infighting) while they figure out which tyrant they want in power. Hamas could try and say they won, but if Israel got the hostages back the narrative will be Israel overwhelmingly defeated them. That narrative would never be permitted in the illiberal authoritarian hellscape of academia and NGO, but normies would move on and be relieved it’s over.

That said, the democrats and the rest of the left are in an existential battle for relevancy. The maga movement sort of grew up into a more reasonable big tent which 9 years ago seemed unthinkable. The left has to grapple with the fact that they’re wrong about everything and the public finally called them out on their bullshit. But they do not agree, double down and still blame the voters for their breathtaking incompetence. This can play out in a couple ways, in which the Dem establishment tries to pick a moderate who will be shoehorned in despite probable low poll numbers. The psychotic part of the left is completely done with the DNC and might actually try to break away and start their own thing and they would benefit from an AOC to get maybe 20% of the popular vote. This would destroy the left totally and completely. If there’s a semblance of normalcy and decent economic stability, the American public will reward the GOP for a long time.

One thing I’ve noticed as an ex far lefty is that while the far left and far right both hate Jews, the far right has no interest in uniting with the left. They see the woke nonsense and ridiculous economic fantasy utopian socialism as a direct threat and also downright stupid. The left thinks there’s some “class solidarity” happening while they cheer murdering CEOs in the street which makes most people really sickened. We’ve shown that we can’t unite as a whole, but the left will keep getting crazier and crazier and impossible to take seriously. The bubble will be impenetrable but will also shrink over time because dissent isn’t allowed. They are the albatross around their own neck.

Sowell then told the story of being asked years ago by an official in one of the Jewish organizations in New York what “the Jews themselves [can] do in order to minimize the hostility they face.”

“I gave him a one-word answer,” Sowell said. “Fail. Because as long as you succeed, you’re going to be hated.”

The Jews are successful because they take care of each-other like a big family. They function a real tribe, at least far more than their competitors do, and that is what matters.

Expand full comment

I think Jews are successful because they blame themselves, instead of others, when they fail.

No chance of a Jewish mother saying you failed because of systemic racism and that's all it takes to work harder, study longer, think better and succeed the next time.

Expand full comment

No doubt that is true. Realism is necessary for success. But Jews will also give help to people not in their immediate family to get them started and help them through rough patches. You don't see them organizing to demand bennies from the government they way many other groups do.

The Jewish people have had a lot more practice at survival than most oppressed peoples. They've had thousands of years of it, and have become the premiere experts at resilience in the face of overwhelming odds. Instead of hating the Jewish people for this, we should all respect and emulate them. It's only petty narcissism that gets in the way of this deserved admiration and fuels the endless fires of hatred.

I am certain there will be no peace in the ME, regardless of what treaties get signed. The inherent instabilities are just too great. There are many shoes yet to drop, including possible overthrow of Jordan's kingdom and Egypt's regime, Turkey going after the Kurds, etc.. If Iran gets taken out, Turkey will probably replace it as Israel's greatest nemesis.

I agree with this: Turkey’s imperial ambitions are or probably will be the biggest risk factor.

One good thing for Israel is that turkey can continue to take out its wrath on the Kurds, and nobody will lift a finger. Tragic for the Kurds obviously.

That said I’m not super worried about the Jordanian government falling, but maybe I’m missing something.

Jordan is >70% Palestinian. The ancestors of most of the Palestinians in the West Bank were expelled from Jordan because they tried to overthrow the King. It is widely acknowledged that Jordan is as unstable as other ME regimes where the minority rules (like Syria, Egypt, Saddam's Iraq, etc..), but just because you don't hear news about it doesn't mean it won't suddenly fall.

Between now and 2028 there will be an internal civil war for control of the Democratic Party between the radical progressive Left (what you call the RGA) and the mainstream corporate Democrats like Biden, Hillary Clinton, etc. The problem is that the latter are all too old, and the new crop of leadership (except Fetterman) are all radical leftists like AOC.

There are plenty of moderate governors who are young. It’s obvious AOC is trying to create a brand for a presidential run, but it’s not inevitable she’s a Jean-Luc Mélenchon.

I don't think it's inevitable, but I think it's more possible than people like to think. If right-wing populism ultimately fails, left-wing populism might seem like an attractive alternative.

I agree with you completely that this is what the RGA, which I keep referring to as the Free Palestine cult, will attempt to gain power by the subterfuge you mentioned, a continuation of DSA members and “Justice Democrats” running as Democratic Party candidates, to gain power and recognition through taking over the easiest bluest seats.

Also I don’t believe AOC is in any sense a true populist, despite having been a bartender. But she doesn’t care about, say, some blue-collar Polish guy in western PA. Thus I think working class votes will continue to elude the Dems: we’re not reverting to the days of “lunchpail Democrats.” But as people have pointed out, a major economic downturn could change those dynamics.

Expand full comment

Culturally and socially, she's an elitist to the core, but I can see her adopting a kind of economic populism. Whether that will sway working class voters who find her cultural and social beliefs morally abhorrent is another question, but if the working class is in serious economic straits, it might.

The Global Everything Bubble will eventually burst. All bubbles do. We can't predict when, but we know this will cause a depression and/or an hyperinflationary spiral. The Left will promise all sorts of demagoguery, and enough people could buy it to elect AOC or someone else of her ilk.

AOC’s vilifying claims against Israel promote antisemitism. AOC insists loudly, publicly and frequently that Israel is committing a genocide against the people of Gaza. She does this to garner support from the anti-Zionist movement in the United States, specifically the college students who are calling for a war against the Jewish State. AOC claims that she has done extensive research and looked at the data before concluding that Israel is guilty of genocide. AOC’s wildly false and slanderous accusations against Israel is a bet that she can make attacking Israel a popular cause that propels the masses to vote for her. I do believe she poured over data, polling data.

Give AOC credit for her willingness to express outrageous and stupid ideas. She really understands American politics. AOC thinks Israel’s war against Hamas is her generations Vietnam. I guess she views the marches calling for the destruction of Israel and the anti-war marches calling for an end to the Vietnam war equivalent expressions of political discontent. She thinks that an American 18-year-old with a draft number of 7 chanting “1,2,3,4 we don’t want your fucking war” is the same as an 18-year-old Columbia University student from California shouting for the elimination of the Jewish State. It’s not; it’s not even close. AOC views the Palestinian keffiyeh as her generation’s Che Guevara beret, the Hamas flag as her generation’s peace sign. If AOC is pushing this fantastic far out analogy between Hamas’s commitment to slaughter Jews and the United States war against the government of North Vietnam it is only a baby step for her to compare Lieutenant Calley’s Company C platoon to the Israeli Defense Forces. I am trying to get ahead of AOC logic that she may use to convince people between the ages of 18 and 40 that Gaza is their Vietnam.

The My Lai massacre committed by the soldiers of Lieutenant Calley’s platoon on March 16th, 1968 was a vicious murderous attack on innocent unarmed Vietnamese woman and children. The My Lai massacre was the exception and those responsible for the massacre were prosecuted. The soldiers who were committing the war crimes were forcefully stopped in their tracks by other American soldiers who intersected with the ongoing massacre. This is starkly different from the Hamas pogrom of October 7,2023 which was celebrated by Hamas and its allies. Hamas did not face criminal charges or release the hostages it took. Hamas made a commitment to carry out many more massacres of the same sort against Israelis. Hamas has continued to rape and torture Americans and Israelis for 462 days. Hamas has continued to launch rockets at Israel for 462 days. Hamas has hidden behind woman and children for 462 days as they battle the IDF. If AOC wants the war between Israel and Hamas to really be her generations Vietnam she should learn from Jane Fonda’s aka, “Hanoi Jane”. Jane Fonda toured North Vietnam in 1972 denouncing the United States while American Soldiers were being tortured by the Viet Cong. AOC could fly into Gaza stand atop the tunnels where American’s are being tortured and repeat her accusation that the United States is being complicit in Israel’s genocide against the Palestinian people. This could rally her supporters.

AOC is the mentee of Senator Bernie Sanders. Sanders is a well-known socialist and harsh critic of Israel who migrated to Vermont from New York City. I think AOC’s best route to the White House is through Vermont. She should become a resident of Vermont, then run for the senate seat of Sanders when he retires. Ben and Jerry will pour millions into her campaign. Her platform of defunding the police, defunding Israel and defunding the rich will be highly popular. She will likely have a Ben & Jerry’s flavor. I would suggest Cranberry Green Tea. After six years in the Senate, it is a short walk to the White House.

This is a taste of Cranberry Green Tea:

Washington, D.C. - On the first anniversary of the October 7th terrorist attacks in Israel, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez released the following statement:

“The violence perpetrated by Hamas on October 7th, murdering more than 1,200 people and kidnapping hundreds of innocent men, women, and children, was a crime against humanity and an atrocity that will shock generations to come. It was the single deadliest day for Jewish people since the Holocaust. I have seen footage from that day. I will never forget it.

In the weeks after the attack, I met with hostage families whose loved ones were being held in Gaza. Their message to me and to the world was clear: we can save the hostages, secure a ceasefire, and stop the needless suffering of Israeli hostages and Palestinians alike.

Instead, Prime Minister Netanyahu pursued a path of mass revenge, killing over 40,000 Palestinians, blocking humanitarian aid, pushing Gaza to the brink of famine while only further endangering the lives of hostages, and consistently undermining ceasefire negotiations.

One year after the attack, the region is barreling toward even wider conflict. The Biden Administration has failed in its responsibility and own stated goals to prevent a wider regional conflict. The administration’s refusal to enforce U.S. Leahy laws and humanitarian standards has contributed to the devastation in Gaza, added to the profound human toll on and since October 7th, and allowed the conflict to escalate.

None of this was inevitable. And it can still be stopped. Hamas, Israel, and Hezbollah should agree to a lasting ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon. The Biden Administration must uphold U.S. humanitarian law and withhold offensive military support when it is violated. The world must come together to build a lasting peace. All of us must protect our Jewish communities at home and abroad from rising antisemitism. All of us must demand respect for the lives of Palestinians and human rights everywhere. The only way to end these horrors is through a diplomatic solution.”
